Sol Wise eCourses Welcomes You Today:

Christmas Bell Luke 2 :
9. Suddenly an angel appeared among them, and the landscape shone bright with the glory of the Lord. They were badly frightened,
10. but the angel reassured them. "Don't be afraid!" he said. "I bring you the most joyful news ever announced, and it is for everyone!
11. The Savior - yes, the Messiah, the Lord - has been born tonight in Bethlehem!
12. How will you recognize him? You will find a baby wrapped in a blanket, lying in a manger!"
13. Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others - the armies of heaven - praising God:
14. "Glory to God in the highest heaven," they sang, "and peace on earth for all those pleasing him."
LB

This is the first time in scripture that a company of the armies of heaven were seen in their glorified form on the earth.

God is referred to by many names in the Bible, but the name we come across most often is "Lord of Hosts!" That means: "God of the armies of heaven".

The way in which a ruler usually lets people know how powerful he is, is by displaying his army. God used this same principle that night.

However, the show of His army - awesome though it was - was not to leave these back-water working-men scared into blind submission, but rather to impress these facts so forcibly upon them that they would immediately do something about what they had been told, and also that they would tell everyone they saw about the birth of Messiah.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for being the God of heaven's armies! That means You are indeed the mighty God.
Thank You that Your armies are singing armies and praising armies!
Today I want to join with those in Your earthly army in joyfully proclaiming that Jesus Christ is the Messiah and also the King of kings and Lord of lords, and that He is coming again.
In His mighty name I pray,
Amen.
